Airspace Overload
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android
This is a top-down air traffic controller arcade. Planes come in, and you're tasked to guide them to land safely. There is a tutorial explaining how to do that, but in short, tap/click on an airplane to select it, then click/tap anywhere to make the plane fly there. It might seem slow-paced and boring at the start, but it gets more fun as more planes come in and as the levels become increasingly complex.
In this demo, there are seven levels: six are predefined airspace and airport configurations, and the seventh is procedurally generated (meaning it's different every time). The feature of a procedurally generated level is in active development, and it looks pretty schematic here. But good luck getting there first :-)
When a level is cleared, it can be played in survival mode. That is, you can play this level over and over again, and all of your previous landings are replayed, making the airspace more and more crowded with each attempt.
- Written in Godot 4.
- Backdrops for the levels are generated using MidJourney.
- Sound effects are generated using ElevenLabs.
- Icons in the UI are by Icons8.
- Background music is by Skeletorus.
Note:
The application is multi-threaded. Alas, a multi-threaded web application cannot be easily hosted at itch.io. However, I deployed it on my own server, so here is the link to play in a browser: https://www.pgolo.me/airspace-overload/
